After thirty years in the classroom, twenty of those as Head of English, I am now venturing into tuition because so may young people feel they need just that little bit of additional support to achieve the grades they are capable of. Sometimes, pupils feel a little ‘lost’ or a little ‘invisible’ in the English classroom and need that support to fill in the gaps. This is when tuition helps.

My vast experience as teacher and HOD has supported hundreds of young people to achieve beyond their academic ability. English is about igniting an interest, building an understanding of texts and skills, followed by practice and then identifying any gaps or misconceptions to ensure learning is secure. It’s as simple as that!

In 2025, I started tutoring and my pupils achieved 2 grades above their last Mock in January. Below is a comment from a very pleased mum:

‘Nida’s tutoring transformed our son’s English results from a predicted 4 to 6 in Language and a predicted 5 to 8 in Literature. Helping him secure his first-choice place!’

This was done in less than four months.
